Flexible Open-Cell Foams
The class of flexible open-cell polyurethane foams can be categorized into a few different types. The largest consumption of this class material will be in slab-stock foam. Smaller, but significant amount is consumed in the carpet-backing application. Specialized molded foams are used in manufacturing automotive interiors and may other specialty applications. Some flexible foams are used in packaging and casing for electronic equipment.
Northstar Polymers works with manufactures to develop specialty flexible foam systems. Each application is unique and requires a careful selection of raw materials and formulation. We can also provide upstream raw materials such as isocyanates and polyols at a competitive pricing from our resources.
Molding Foams
Usually, molding flexible foam product requires proper equipment and high cost molds. Northstar Polymers can work with smaller manufacturers with limited capacity using alternative methods and low cost molds.

Slab Stock Foam
Urethane slab-stock foam is widely used in furniture, upholstery, bedding, and other application. The manufacturers of slab-stock foams are usually large operation that make a few established foam formulations which require some maintenance and adjustments. Northstar Polymers can help those manufactures by supplying common upstream raw materials to be used in their formulations.
Carpet Backing Foam
Carpet backing application requires a special attention to its flame retardant property. It needs be a low cost formulation. Northstar Polymers can help manufactures by supplying common upstream raw materials and providing additives to the formulations.
