The applications of gel products vary from highly specialized medical devise to arm rest and cushion parts of home and auto mobile seating products.  This literature exhibits one of a common method of molding polyurethane gel.  In most of the cases the gel needs to be encapsulated in flexible film, synthetic leather, or other flexible materials. 

Polyurethane gel typically has a sticky surface, which is not desirable for some applications.  Also, the strength of gel may not withstand the application if it is used without a cover.  A common way of molding polyurethane gel product is to form a flexible film into a cavity so it retains liquid state of polyurethane gel material, pour and let it cure, and seal the top.  For armrests and mouse-pad wrist rests, the parts are molded in the up side down position.
