Standard Tenderfoot

6 Ways Tenderfoot Floors create a more profitable environment:

1. Reduced Knee & Leg Abrasions

Tenderfoot's friendly surface is kind to the sensitive skin of young piglets.  No rough or sharp edges to cause injuries and open the door for infection.  Research farm tests showed abrasions on 45% of the pigs farrowed on wire mesh, none with Tenderfoot.

2. Reduced Incidence of Spraddle Legs

Tenderfoot provides superior traction for newborn piglets getting their first grip on life.  The small openings prevent entrapment and leg injury, yet provide the traction necessary to reduce spraddle legs and sprains, to avoid crushing by the sow, and to properly massage the udder during nursing for maximum milk let-down.

3. Reduced Underline Problems (Teat Necosis)

Rough abrasive floors, or hard floors with sharp edges, can wear off or damage the nipples of nursing sows.  Tenderfoot's soft, smooth, rounded surface helps prevent underline injury to both sows and piglets.

4. Reduced Room Noise Levels

Hard floors create harsh sounds.  The din created by animal movement on metal floors is particularly upsetting in a confined environment.  Tenderfoot's coated, cushioned floor means quieter movement, better sound absorption and a more stress-free environment.

5.  Insulated Surface Controls Heat Loss

Plastisol coating is a superb insulator.  The comfort provided by this aspect of Tenderfoot is in stark contrast to the ice-cold conditions that can exist with metal floors.  Warm lining conditions allow pigs to direct feed energy to weight gain by reducing the energy needed to maintain body temperature.

6. Strong But Soft Coating, Extended Life

In many installations  Tenderfoot has lasted substantially longer than other flooring systems.  In some cases it has outlasted other flooring, such as wire, by factor of 3!  Many producers have found Tenderfoot to be not only the best system for their livestock, but also the least expensive when its extended life is considered.
